Compulab introduced Slim Fit-PC, which is the smallest unit capable of running Windows XP in the world and competes with the Linutop tested in our columns in June
The manufacturer has managed to integrate a combination AMD Geode LX800 500 MHz CPU and GPU, 512 MB of memory DDR and a non-removable 2.5-inch 60 GB hard drive in an enclosure measuring only 10 x 11 x 3 cm. The machine is also equipped with Ethernet and wireless controllers 802.11 b / g and has 3 USB ports, a VGA port and two jacks for audio input and output.
It can be delivered to select Ubuntu, Gentoo, Windows XP or no operating system to load directly from the network. Depending on configurations, consumption of 4 6 W and will be marketed from September 25 at prices ranging from 295 to $ 335 (210 to 235 euros HT).
In this type of small, it is not better, but I can not understand the usefulness of wireless on these machines …

This thing is for people who have very limited needs or specific. I guess it will be so in a call center, where the VoIP is the local network for which operators require that access an intranet in the form of a website. At only 6 watts per machine, imagine the energy gain (and more)!
