It seems that you you need either a hybrid or touring bike. Go to a local bike shop and look at both kinds. Talk to employees in the store to get the advantages and disadvantages of each type of bike for the type of driving you'll do. Then, do a lot of comparisons. The bicycle industry is so competitive now that two bikes at the same price are very likely to be of comparable value. Ignore the hype and marketing brochures fantasy. The most important thing can do road test as many bikes as you can. One of them will go much better than all others. You will be able to say that shortly after the first session on this bike. Buy this bike. The bike that suits you best will be those who will give you the most pleasure. HTH
