Stationary Exercise Bicycle
What can kids do for exercise?
Recently I learned that kids shouldn’t lift weights because it stunts growth, my question is are they still allowed to train themselves through sit ups and push ups? Can they run on treadmills and use the stationary bicycle machine? Is running and playing sports the only thing that they can do for exercise or is there anything else?
Yes, they can use treadmills, elliptical trainers, stairclimbers, and stationary bikes. They can do sit-up and push-ups.
The problem with weight lifting, weight training equipment, and the like is that the bone stress damages the growth plates which allow bones to elongate.
I’m a big believer in kids playing actively in whatever way they want as their path to fitness. Our detested sports, but would explore the woods for hours, running from imagined monsters, or building walls from small deadfalls.
