Is jumping rope a good form of aerobic exercise, or does it burn too many calories?

I heard that they recommend at the minimum, 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise 5 times a week or vigorous-intensity aerobic for 20 minutes 3 times a week. Is jumping rope a good aerobic exercise? One thing I’m afraid of is if it will burn too many calories, since I’m quite skinny and don’t want to loose weight.

Also, I’ve heard it’s good to do exercise that strengthens the bones. Would jumping rope or running in place, while watching a DVD for 30 minutes 3 times a week, work better for bone strengthening? (I already do strength training for 40 minutes 3 times a week, push-ups, sit-ups, and resistance tubes, in addition to aerobic exercise)
