Pet Exercise Ball
Can I put a newly mother Robo hamster in her exercise ball?
My robo hamster just had babies 3 days ago, and she has moved her nest around three times now. But today, she randomly moved all the babies in the wheel and started running so i took the wheel away. I read online that it is okay to take the mother out at night to get exercise from the ball instead but on other websites it tells you not to touch her at all. When I put her in the ball she seemed fine, and when i took her out she let me hold and pet her like nothing was wrong. I am worried though that she might be stressed out but i can’t tell. Any help?
Today when i checked on her, she was fine and all the babies are fine. I have put her in her ball for 5 min again tonight and she went right back in the nest to give the babies milk.
She has been in a spare bedroom by herself for the last couple days and i have only gone in there to give her hard boiled eggs and lettuce
i think she is pretty comfortable with me, i just can’t wait till i can hold her babies!
Moving the nest so many times while the babies are so young is worrying. It is lucky that she hasn’t eaten them already.
Try not to ‘check on’ her or the babies for another two weeks. Don’t touch or move anything in the cage except to give her fresh food and water. Don’t clean it or even spot clean it either. Just to be on the safe side, she is stressed out already and you don’t want to push your luck.
