How worried should I be Carbohydrates?
I am a man aged 23 years, I exercise vigorously twice a day, I do not eat junk food, I take vitamins and supplements. Would I see real results in my form if I cut down on carbohydrates? I count calories today should I start watching my carbs too? and it would be a good deal for me to shoot all day if I was trying to lose weight? Thx guys!
Not all carbohydrates are bad for you. Whole grains, fruits and vegetables and nuts are good for you. What you need to watch is refined flour / sugar and corn syrup rich in fructose, which is the father of all evil food. You'll find HFCS in many things, but soft drinks and fruit juices which are not 100% juice are loaded with it. To determine the approximate number of calories you need per day just to maintain what you have, follow these follows: (1) Take your weight and multiply by 11. (2) Take that number and multiply it by 1.25 if you are primarily sedentary, 1.3 if you are moderately assets, and 1.35 if you are very active. The number you come up with is your daily caloric unchanged. I will use an example: I weigh 220 pounds. Multiply 220 by 11 and you get 2420. I consider myself above sedentary, so if I multiply 1.25 by 2420 I get 3025. This means that I need 3025 calories a day just only to maintain what I have. Now, if I lose a pound a week I need to cut 500 calories a day. If I lose two pounds a week, I need to cut 1000 calories per day. So I take two pounds per week and reducing my caloric intake to 2,000 calories per day just to make it easy. CAUTION: Never cut your calorie intake below 1800 calories per day. Your body will be in starvation mode and will hang on to read every last bit of fat you have and burn the tissue that takes more energy to maintain – Muscle. So if I'm about 2000 calories per day, and I'm planning an even three-way split, He stood at about 665 calories per day in each group of nutrients. Protein and carbohydrates are 4 calories per gram, which means that I must take in about 166g protein and 166g of carbohydrate per day. Fat is 9 calories per gram, so I have to take in about 74g of fat per day. Does that help?
