Off ice training for skaters adults?
What do you do to the guys in the formation of ice? I started going to pilates and yoga at my gym once a week each … and I also have a yoga DVD that I count on the support at home on days when I'm not going not. I do cardio and light weights 3x per week. I was wondering if there is anything else I should be focusing on. I know that the basic strength and flexibility is a must. I am also curious to ballet classes for adults since I just found out that skating as an adult, adult ballet is quite popular for fitness. I am not in competition or anything, this is more for my own satisfaction and fitness, who knows that I might compete in the circuit adults in the future. I just participate in the "ice rink at my watch. Share your thoughts!
That is fine as an adult in whom you have time to do all that! I used to have a schedule like that. . . but I can not even squeeze into skating now . . . one day again! Well, it looks like you made a cross-program training courses already great! Is there ice off stretching classes offered at the rink? Stretching is important, but extends specifically for skating would help in your sport. There was a class offered right when I started skating (taught by a skater / ballet master) and til this day I still use a large part of the same routine (with what I said learned in yoga!). I skate now, but I'm still out orders for ice when I never come back! And what about the formation of ice classes? I worked with a coach who has been heavily in the formation of ice off (stretching, weight training with doing squats in a certain way, hyper jumping and turning, sometimes working with a harness). I had friends who take the class at their rink. Skaters may try to jump on the ice but this is not the same as jumping on the ice. . . the technique of ice can be ruined by bad muscle memory off-ice. . . it is good means to learn to do these exercises to help jump / rotation. The cardio should help you with your stamina. . . I lacked at the time. It seems that when I knew I would be in competition that I would get serious about endurance. I did a lot of jump roping and accompanying measures fast (with my music program loop) and that helped a lot. I was totally lazy this ministry. . . but my coach said the most adults needed to work on endurance. Have you checked this link from the USFSA website? It gives some off-ice exercise good advice. USFSA Off-Ice % Http: / / www.usfigureskating.org / content / Off FITNESS 20Ice%%% 20I% 20Pre 20Fitness 20Juv% 20Int.pdf loved ballet. . . I took a "standard" Adult ballet class and ballet to skating. Although the ballet to skating with (weapons posture, grace, working on both sides, etc.), I did not want to "master" of ballet. . . I just wanted to "work" with the key to skating. Although they go hand in hand ballet and skating are also 2 different worlds (as with squats or spiral ISSUES / arabesque position) so I found that ballet specifically for skating has been particularly useful. On that note, I took all kinds of dance classes Jazz, Latin, hip hop, ballroom, etc. for fun to do so. . . I am exposed to many different styles that made me a more versatile skater. A friend of mine swears that her tap dancing has helped with his footwork. I love the choreography, so I enjoyed learning the movements of the body through dance, we hope to be able to take a lot of them on the ice. My goal was not only athletic, but as entertaining / expressive to my audience. Well orders outside the ice is great, it is also important to "make time" on the ice. It is the only way to sharpen your skating – even if everything else can help. Power stroking, ballet on ice, moves in the field, footwork. . . take advantage of these types of "ice group classes" if it is offered to the rink, I do not care about doing "too many" things. I do too caught up in a given time. . . above tolerate injury. Finally, I have been pooping and could not give it my all skating – whose extracurricular activities were expected to help with. Remember no rest is equally important too – physically and mentally. Anyway, these are my "adult" ramblings! Good luck with your skating. . . each Once you decide to competition, sounds like you'll be well prepared!
