The more you sweat more calories than you burn?

It is a question of fitness simple, I was outside running and after I got my neighbor told me that the more you sweat the more calories you burn. He said he lost tons of weight fast running with 2 sweaters on. And its pretty hot outside where I live. Of course, I do not run with 2-3 on jerseys but I was wondering. Is it true that the more you sweat more calories than you burn? It's like I can just go sit in the sun on a day very hot in summer and sweat my butt off and be burning tons of calories. I do not understand, I would not do that but still. Is this true?
