Can someone please help me ans this biology ques?
Your lab partner wants to complete the lab exercises faster and decides to combine two of the experiments. She decides to test for the optimal pH of the experiment while varying the substrate concentration. She uses the lowest substrate concentration (0.10 mMolar) in the same tube she sets up at pH 3. The next highest substrate concentration (0.50 mMolar) was tested at a pH of 4 and so on. What are the disadvantages to her strategy? What useable information is she likely to obtain from this approach?
This is a terrible way to conduct a scientific experiment. You can have only one variable at a time. She has 2. Little if any useful information can come from such an experiment. About the only useable data would be that the enzyme either works or doesn’t at those 2 different pH values. It will tell you nothing about the effectiveness at the 2 different pH values because the substrate concentration has also been varied, so you can’t tell.
