Can you charge a 12V battery with 100V?
Let me explain. I wanted to build a wind turbine but I don’t live in an area with enough wind so I decided to build a bike turbine. I figured the principles were the same – bike spins generator, charges batteries, power inverter, to appliances. Also, the exercise was appealing.
I bought kind of a heavy duty generator, and it turns out my bike turbine is way more efficient than I anticipated – I’m getting between 50 to 100 volts! Jimminy cricket. I never anticipated that many.
What are the limitations to charging a 12V battery?
Yes it can. But you need some circuitry in between.
